Children’s Hour was among the last paintings our father produced. It features we four children at play in a setting of majestic trees, each engaged in a favorite activity. Our mother loved telling the story of our father showing her the just-finished painting. She admired it enthusiastically but then, surprised: but Frank, where are we? He is said to have responded: dear Paula, don’t you see those two cooing Turtle Doves at the base of that biggest tree?
