Description
This dramatic painting is unlike any other Mechau painting. Its moonlit linear features as boldly delineated as they are delicate, two strange cathedral-like mountain forms, an unearthly Ponderosa pine, and dream-like deer floating across an austere foreground. In his later paintings – as in this one, influences of artistic traditions of China, Japan, and Persia, which Mechau deeply admired, may be seen. – The Mechau Family
