Description
This scene commemorates a sad early childhood experience – the burial of a crippled calf we four children were very fond of. It had stumbled into the Crystal River and drowned near our home. Our father helped us dig the grave and produced this tender drawing shortly afterwards, the giant Ponderosa Pine arching protectively over all. – The Mechau Family
