This dramatic mural in Brownfield, Texas depicts an extraordinary practice formerly used to put out prairie fires. It involved smothering the leading edges of fire by dragging the body and hide of a skinned steer along the advancing line. The risks to man and horse were enormous. – The Mechau Family
