Description
Here is a major scene from a painting praised by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1939 when our father was invited to pay a working visit to Taliesen. Wrought over months and years, this painting captures the awful beauty of a forest fire and reflects the terror it strikes in man and beast. The setting is Red Mountain near Glenwood Springs, Colorado where our father grew up. Though somewhat obscured here by the flames, the distinctive beauty of this extraordinary mountain is featured in several other important works. – The Mechau Family
