Tom Kenney was a cowboy prospector. Tom was a taciturn man who eked out a lonely existence cow-punching, breaking horses, and prospecting high mountain ranges. His home place lay near Bulldog Creek at the base of Mt. Sopris.  This iconic painting was completed when Mechau was the head of the Dept. of Painting & Sculpture at Columbia University. It was widely exhibited before being acquired by the Metropolitan Museum in NYC and is now privately owned. – The Mechau Family
